Sagunto Almost Unscathed by Emong
Jeanette on May 11th 2009
Typhoon Emong went through the Pangasinan region a few days ago according to the Five Hours in Fear article at the Sison website. Luckily, most of Sison escaped major damage; unlike last year when typhoon Cosme came through and created havoc.
Emong left in it’s wake substantial property damage and casualties in Ifugao and Pangasinan that a state of calamity has been declared by the provincial governments.
A follow up article on the Sison website will follow to discuss the erosion problem in Sitio Pilawan, Sagunto, where the erosion problem was exacerbated by the typhoon and is now threatening to give way. The mayor was scheduled to inspect Sitio Pilawan and an article will soon follow so stay tuned.
UPDATED May 14: Mayor Kimi has inspected the erosion in Pilawan and determined that immediate action to alleviate the situation is needed. She has contacted Congressman Mark O. Cojuangco and plans are underway to fix the problem.
