Artacho School Needs You

Jeanette on Jun 1st 2010

Water finally came to Artacho School last year and they now have their own water supply on campus thanks to the new deep well that was a joint effort by school administrators, parents and municipal officials. However, that initiative came at a price. If you remember from our report last year (http://saguntostar.com/2009/03/14/water-finally-arrives-in-artacho-school/), in order to get the drilling rigs in to the campus, the gate that welcomed students for generations had to be demolished.

Today, the gate is still in disrepair and school is scheduled to start again on June 15th.

More Changes to Artacho School

Jeanette on Mar 17th 2009

Artacho School, like most of Sison, is undergoing rapid changes under the new administration and due to the perseverance and hard work of school advocates like PTCA President, Kagawad Loejan Anudon who petitioned board member Danilo C. Uy to approve the funding for the project. Board member Uy has given the green light and the the construction of the new auditorium/stage is almost complete. Also crucial in the completion of this project are high school PTCA president, Elmer C. Eliseo, elementary school principal Mrs. Jovita Narciza and high school principal, Dr. Danilo B. Alegado and students who helped by providing snacks to the construction workers. Great team work, everyone!

Water Finally Arrives in Artacho School

Jeanette on Mar 14th 2009

UPDATED MARCH 17
Did you attend Artacho school? Then you probably know that the school did not have it’s own water supply. It’s hard to believe that Artacho School is just now getting its own water supply thanks to the tireless efforts of Kagawad Loejan Anudon. Kagawad Anudon, who is also PTCA president for Artacho School, campaigned and relentlessly pursued officials to drill a well for the school so that the students won’t have to fetch water from neighboring wells anymore. With the leadership of Engineer Jonar Manaois, drilling equipment and supplies have been delivered at the school and soon Artacho School will have its own water supply right on campus.

According to Kgwd. Anudon, “Kawawa kasi mga bata sa school. Lagi silang inuutusan ng mga teachers na magigib kung sasan saan at napakadelikado pa ang highway sa kanila.” Having a well on campus will give students more time to focus on their learning rather than carrying water to the school and their safety is more secure when they don’t have to navigate crossing the busy highway to perform this chore.

Artacho Elementary School Kids Get Top Medals in Taekwondo

Jeanette on Feb 26th 2009

My apologies for the delay in relaying news from the Sison website. Here is one more news to be proud of, Sagunto kids show their prowess in Taekwondo even though this sport is new to them. They attended the competition poorly equipped, some of them sharing uniforms just to be able to compete, and still they come away victorious. These kids are our future and they are doing their best with what they have.

Readers of the Sagunto Star are always generous with every plea for donations from Sagunto. These kids haven’t asked, but touching stories of their courage and perseverance have reached us. Friends, Eva Eisma & Meda Gomez, have taken it upon themselves to help buy some of the uniforms and equipment. If these young taekwondo masters are to continue competing to the higher levels, they are going to need all the help and support from their community that they can get. Uniforms and accessories cost P4500 not including helmets and mask which cost more. The children make do by taking turns wearing the uniforms and protective gear. They will also need money in order to travel to the different competitions. Read the full article below to get an idea of their future venues.

If you have a chance to help, and every little bit helps, leave a comment here and we can arrange to get your donations to the proper channels.
