Begnas 2010 & Thanksgiving – Indigenous People’s Month Celebration

The Pangasinan Tribal Women’s Organization, Inc sponsored this year’s Indigenous People’s Month Annual Celebration and Thanksgiving. The begnas is scheduled today, November 12, 2010 in Umingan, Pangasinan. The Sagunto sector of the organization is heavily represented in the provincial organization and have asked the support of all Saguntonians in the letter of solicitation below. Even though the begnas is happening as we speak, the Tribal Women’s Organization has projects that are ongoing, year-round and your donation will go to fund all their worthwhile endeavors.

First, as an introduction, the following is the Vision and Mission Statement of the organization:

Pangasinan Tribal Women’s Organization (TWO), Inc. is a dynamic organization dedicated to protecting and promoting women’s rights focused on empowerment, gender equality and universal access to justice, all for the improvement of the quality of life, especially the tribal women and youth.

Pangasinan TWO, Inc. aims to provide basic quality services that is equitably accessible to all. It also aims to develop and ensure that every member will be empowered to enjoy their rights and in laying the foundations of a life-long commitment to the Indigenous Peoples and active service economically, socially and morally in a just humane society.

Monsieur et Mesdames:

 

Our warmest greetings from the Pangasinan Tribal Women’s Organization, Inc.! Congratulations on your ascension to the highest hierarchy of office in the NCIP.

 

We are a duly organized tribal women’s organization of Pangasinan and registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission.

 

In response to the call of poverty alleviation in our country brought about the global economic crisis, our newly formed organization has prioritized the development of income-generating projects for the IP women in the locality of Pangasinan. This project aims to accomplish the following objectives:

a)      To help the members augment their meager income and

b)      To generate trade and commerce, thus creating business opportunities as well as local employment in the community.

 

Thus far, we are currently facilitating the Indigenous Peoples’ Month Annual Celebration

which will be held on 12th November, 2010 in the municipality of Umingan, Pangasinan. We plan to highlight the said activity with Skills Building and Development Orientation and Seminar that targets more than 1,000 participants from the identified IP communities (thirteen (13) municipalities) of Pangasinan.

 

As such, may we request you benevolence to kindly grant us your financial assistance for our noble endeavour. Any excess from the proceeds will be utilized as a seed capital for the start up of the IGPs for the tribal women of the province of Pangasinan.
