Through the earnest request of the Mayor, Honorable Kimi S. Cojuangco, a team from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Eco-Systems Research and Development Bureau, University of the Philippines, Los Banos, Laguna, headed by Mr. Gregorio E. Santos, Jr., Senior Science Research Specialist and Mr. Alexander Malabanan, Development Management Officer III, arrived in Sison to conduct a two day seminar / workshop on how to utilize waste materials into ecologically aware source of cooking fuels that are also very advantageous in preserving our forests.

COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAMS FOR SISON
Internet poles have been installed in Sison and some of its citizens are now availing themselves to free internet access but there are still many who cannot take advantage of this benefit due to lack of computers or lack of knowledge on how to use them. In order to shorten the divide between those who are knowledgeable and those who are not, the municipality of Sison, under Mayor Kimi’s computer literacy program, has initiated three training sessions where trainees can earn Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) certificates. More than two hundred people have signed on and training has already started. The first two sessions have been completed and a third will be underway next week.
