Sagunto Almost Unscathed by Emong

Jeanette on May 11th 2009

Typhoon Emong went through the Pangasinan region a few days ago according to the Five Hours in Fear article at the Sison website. Luckily, most of Sison escaped major damage; unlike last year when typhoon Cosme came through and created havoc.

Emong left in it’s wake substantial property damage and casualties in Ifugao and Pangasinan that a state of calamity has been declared by the provincial governments.

A follow up article on the Sison website will follow to discuss the erosion problem in Sitio Pilawan, Sagunto, where the erosion problem was exacerbated by the typhoon and is now threatening to give way. The mayor was scheduled to inspect Sitio Pilawan and an article will soon follow so stay tuned.

I agree to those descriptions of Pilawan view overlooking the horizon… breath-taking, indeed. Let us protect the road and the gorges from landslides and erosion. Let us keep our land beautiful and protected. I was looking at the picture of our tireless Mayor and her entourage enjoying the hiking. Such a good exercise that we people (esp. me going older, ulp…and the big bellied escorts…hehehe) should value everyday. Nakakainggit kayo dyan–fresh air with nature’s beauty. Thanks for our officials for checking every corner of our town. I think, our mayor visited our turod as well. Pag-igihan nyo, mga farmers. Goodluck!
