Rest in Peace, Wilma Castillo Tagalicud

March 17th, 200918 Comments

It is with great sorrow that we share with you the passing of Wilma Castillo Tagalicud on March 13, 2009.

We’d like to share with you the following eulogy from the forum:

Wilma ,the youngest daughter of the late MR.RICARDO and MRS.Feliza CASTILLO, was a very bright student during her time. She was a consistent honor student and even was the Salutatorian i know, way back her Artacho HIgh School days.

A vibrant lady, yet so simple and humble in so many ways. She was able to show that simplicity is beauty, inside and out.

If Sacrifice means loving, sacrifice indeed became Ms. WIlma. She have made a choice to be a family woman, an endearing mother to her sons and daughters and a continuing obedient sister to her other siblings. She was a cool lady, a very principled lady without expressing to the whole world yet she knows what she wants. She was very patient, unassuming and peace-loving woman i saw.Never did she wanted rudeness and messy people going around. She indeed was the cool aunt that i know of.

During her struggle with her sickness, all she wanted was to show how she loved her family especially her off-springs.She clearly showed that life is still worth living if not for her, but for her family.

I salute a lady who has mustered enough courage and bravery to still face what she wanted before leaving.Medical interventions (including two major operations 2 days in between and A COMPLETE “CHRISTMAS TREE CONTRAPTIONS” making her like a guinea-experiment sight), have seen how she fought and tricked death for her family. She was so spirited to still make it and pay the kindness of people who have helped her and her family as gratitude for sticking it out with her, especially those trying times in sickbed.

Im sad to have seen her endure the pain and sufferings, a mere sight caused the very nerve of my soul to just say “REST, my auntie”.It was painful but now, the LORD liberated her sufferings and made her eternally resting in HIS loving arms.

Go in Heaven, utter words of wisdom and prayers for those who you left behind, Auntie.I’m sure we all need what you will “whisper” to our LOrd,God Almighty.May that eternal bliss show that you still cared by fixing a wounded family from loss.We are letting you GO IN PEACE, GOD BLESS!!! jscb

To our family in Sagunto, our prayers are with you during this sorrowful time. May you find comfort in the condolence of the whole Bago and Sagunto community.

When those we love have left this earth, we still can feel them near. We’ll see a picture, hear a song, and its just like they are here. And when we call upon our faith, when we believe and trust, we know the ones we care about are always close to us.

  5. Back in 1965, I was 9 and I played with a friend named Wilma (forgot her last name) there
in Sagunto. Tomasita Sakking lived behind my house, Lina lived infront of my house and Wilma lived nearby. I’ve missed her through the years and would love the chance to see her when I visit Sagunto in the near future. But today, I read about the passing of Wilma
and it makes my heart very sad. If it’s not too much to ask, I’d like to see a photo of Wilma as a young girl. Just very sad that I will not be able to hug her when I finally get there.

Nette or Bot, plese help me post that Castillo clan picture with Lola Angela Pecdasen. Auntie Wilma was standing at the back of Lola Angela in the picture. I have that pic somewhere but I must have put it in one of my hundreds of untitled albums. I saw that pic at Lola Dora’s SS album too posted this January but it didn’t have a clear resolution to show Aun Wilma’s face clearly. If you could kindly post that here again focusing on Aunt Wilma, we’d be happy to see a younger Wilma face. I found some pics of her in Sagunto but they couldn’t be blown up using my 8.2 megapixel cam. Lots of her albums also got moldy in taltalon that they coudn’t find any recognizable. All the ones they have now are the recent “skeleton” pics, Arrrgh. I’ll photocopy the pics I have today to scan them nicely later.

Thanks Manang Memory. Please visit our videos too at youtube under emzbhomma account. You could also find pics at my Shutterfly album. I could send you an invitation to view the pics. Nette will choose pics to post here soon. Yes, Aunt Masing and her were close when they were young until high school. She’d be glad wherever she is now hearing how you miss her.

My memories of Wilma were all pleasant. She was a classmate and a friend. I remember going to her house and enjoyed dining with her. Dinners were modest and so was she, yet I enjoyed the company! She was humble and hard working girl. Nothing negates her from being a good human being.
To Wilma’s family, I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I feel your loss and am greatly saddened by her passing.
Manang Flora, Manang Tessie, may I please know how she died? How many children did she leave behind?
On the other hand, lets look at the bright side of this. She’s in a better place and is pain free. May God comfort you all. My prayers are with you.
    Sincerely,
    vista

Hello Vista, Thank you for your comforting words. Indeed, Aunt Wilma was that kind and loving classmate before. So sweet she never always talked, but went with classmates for simple fun, homework, projects making…agpadaya agpalaud nga sumusururotak laeng….her friends were all good. That’s how I got to see many high school faces when I was just in the elem in our 4 years of stay Sagunto.

She left 5 children, 4 grandchildren and a husband. Two of her children are now married and with children , while the other three are still single including two youngest who have just graduated from high school. I am having difficulty uploading them here at the forum, so you can now see them through my shurrterfly account. See their pictures at SHUTTERFLY in my account emzbhomma.

Nette, paki post na lang yung 3 younger picture of aunt wilma na dito sa SS from Shutterfly. I will upload now.
    Thanks all

Opps sorry Vista, I forgot to mention how she died. You can see Joseph’s (jcb) account of Aunt Wilma’s suffering at his essay above. Joseph, who is a nurse accopanied her even on her last operations in Manila. That’s how they found out that her body had numerous types of cancer already from just colon cancer, the same sickness that killed Aunt Luz, her older sister 15 years ago, and could be the same cancer that killed Lola Dora. You see how we get troubled now worrying if we have the cancer genes too. From her fisrt operation 2 years ago in Baguio where they just removed parts of her colon, her condition didn’t improve, and so had to continuously take chemothrapy, etc. That time, there were other parts already affected, cancer spread so quickly in all parts of her body. She said in her last months of suffering: ” Why is this thing eating up my body so fast? I could feel how it chomps and gnaws every single strand inside”.

How terrible. When can we discover cures for cancer like this?
It would be easy to accept her death through cancer if she had a beautiful married life earler, but she suffered a lot in dire poverty and difficulty in farming toward the last years 10 years.
Well, too much for her…she has to enjoy a second life in heaven now.

I’m sorry for all of you who lost a good friend and former classmate. Aunt Wilma would be happy to hear just your prayers.

  12. vista hope ortiz says:

Cancer as we know is genetic as well as environmental. Maybe genetically she had the traits, yet we never know, prolonged exposure to pesticides maybe had caused it too, DDT sprays etc.

  13. vista hope ortiz says:

Emz; pardon me for asking but I don’t think we met. I don’t remember you at all during our stay in Sagunto.
Thank you very much for your timely responses. I really appreciate your help and the info,
Keep on the good work! Again, thanks a lot!!!

  14. vista hope ortiz says:

Pardon my mistake, EVZ not EMZ.
    I apologize.

  15. emz says:

OMG! Pastor Ferdie’s mom? I think she was still a very active Kagawad in their barangay recently. Evs, how do we send letters or flowers there? Duplas? Sn. Fdo?

Evs, we’d better tell our moms to take it easy too. These oldies have been taking leadership so seriously. I went home dragging my mother to have a check-up too and had her take some shots as she was coughing a lot. Aunt Estela was doing fine…see, she even joined the UCCP choir. Our mothers need some activity but not to the extent of abusing their energy.

People, remind your oldies of their good health. SIGH.

    Condolences!

  16. I see Vista’s name on here. I wonder if she’s one of my friends back in the 60s. We’d walk up and down the Sagunto road to and from school. One day Vista
and I as we were headed home from school, she and I had an issue about Tomato Catsup vs Ketchup right there near the gripo by her house. I’m just wondering–are you that Vista? I sure hope so…it’s been ages. I hope to visit Sagunto soon.

  17. vista hope ortiz says:

Hi Memory! There is no other Vista but me specially when it comes to defending her issues (smile). How are you? How did you end up in Hawaii? Where are you exactly in Hawaii? I remember you and your brother. I don’t think that we ever became classmates. I guess you and Christine (TET) were about the same age. I am not really sure. Nice to hear from you.
Have a great Hawaiian Easter Sunday tomorrow. ALOHA!
