Sagunto Farmers in Action
Jeanette on Mar 11th 2009
As mentioned earlier, the Sagunto farmers were tapped to be the first to receive the 2.5 million project assistance loan from the Sison Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO). The photos below, submitted by Rolly Benosa shows how far ahead the Sagunto farmers have gotten with this project already. They are well on their way to becoming the source for cherry tomatoes in the region.

Pictures of the golden gem cherry tomato and the rojita plum tomato shown above were taken from our home garden in turod, THE MAYOR personally saw the plum tomatoes when she visited our home garden. Uncle ganet and me have been planting these varieties for many years on a small scale ,due to the prohibitive cost of the FI seeds from Taiwan(P2575/5g pck!).Both of us have been testing different varieties of tomatoes, supersweetcorns, cucumbers, convulvulus, peas ,beans, squash, eggplants etc..from a seed company for many years. thus,we are very confident that we can successfully produce them. The question now is ,HOW MUCH we can produce, given the limited number of INTERESTED able- bodied kabaryuans TO JOIN IN THE PROJECT?As mentioned before, our problem is to produce, marketing of our products is not a problem, the buyers are waiting!
