February 18, 2009 – Mayor Kimi S. Cojuangco and DA Head, Ms. Belinda Villanueva, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Sagunto farmers represented by Rolly C. Benosa, Elmer C. Eliseo, Raymond P. Balinao and Daniel B. Pascua.
The Php2.5 Million cash loan with no interest and no collateral is payable within three years at Php417K per cropping season which is twice a month year.
Witnesses during the activity were the members of the Sanggunian Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Mari?as, other staffs from the Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO), the Municipal Treasurer, Mrs. Virtudes T. Blanco, the Municipal Accountant, Mrs. Janette I. Gutierrez, Mr. Inocencio G. Carganilla and Mr. Keong Reyes.
Thanks for the report Loejan! This program is just what the farmers need to jump-start produce production for Sison. I am so excited for the farmers!!!
In these times of economic downfall, we need the farmers more than ever to help ease hunger and help the economy back on its feet. Thank you Mayor Kimi, Congressman Cojuangco and all involved in making this loan available…
I just want to briefly mention, too, how proud I am of my relatives who are going to lead the other farmers. Na-guapo da ket dagita Uncles ken insan kon, hehehe
Ayusen awanen problema he he he he! Ala agpartuat kayon ta warasan yo amin nga mall diay urdaneta ken dagupan. Ammok nga nasayaat ti pagbanagan na daytoy ta sagunto ti producer ti lubyas idi. Maymayat koma no mai extend ti 5 years, ken mangrugi ti second year ti bayad, nga dakkel, say around 100k per apit koma laeng ti first year. syempre, pag birukan da met pay dayta ah, at least tapno saan da ag hypertension nga ksala syak, with lots of stress to meet the payments.
BUT IT IS REALLY A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT ALREADY FOR OUR FARMERS TO HAVE GAINED THE MAYOR’S HELP AND APPROVAL FOR THE FUNDING. WE ARE ALWAYS GRATEFUL, MAYOR KIMI FOR THE CONTINUOUS HELP YOU ARE POURING. THANK YOU AS WELL TO THE MUNICIPAL STAFF AND ADMIN. FOR THEIR GUIDANCE AND ASSISTANCE AND IN LEADING THE MAYOR’S ATTENTION TO SAGUNTO FARMERS. SPECIAL THANKS TO THE MUNICIPAL AGRICULTURAL OFFICE FOR THEIR UNTIRING EFFORT IN GIVING OPPORTUNITIES TO SISON FARMERS IN IMPROVING THEIR LIVES. I THINK WE HAVE A VERY GOOD BATCH OF OFFICIALS AND THEIR EFFECTIVE FORMULA FOR SUCCESS. I WISH THEM ALL GOOD HEALTH AND STRING SPIRIT TO BE OF SERVICE ALWAYS TO OUR PEOPLE. PLEASE BE WITH THEM ALWAYS. DIOS TI MAGITURONG KADAKAYO AMIN, APO.
EMZ BENOSA-HOMMA
By the way, this farmers’ group also includes women. The ever active farmer lady Ms. Julio is their treasurer, and with the help of the project Gen. Manager Rolly Benosa, and Daniel “Ganet” Pascua and Farmers’ Board and Officers, they can make this really organized. These two men have been growing these begges for years now, Okay experts, spread your wings! The 2.5 funds will specifically be used for the two adjoning lots of about 5 hectares, the lots of two families in turod, by about 30 farmer members who will report to work regularly and give attention to their allotted perimeter area cultivating the same vegetables with seed supply from Taiwan. This will be the first of its kind around Northern Luzon, I think.
I heard a few will be starting in their own backyards too using their own family capital. I have sent a few Japan seed packs of the wonder veggies to my other brothers to try on my land next to my house. I’m not sure if Japan seeds match the Phil. climate and soil type. Even the rice variety I sent before didn’t grow nicely. Well, anyway, it’s farming fever now. When you balikbayans go home, just keep supporting and giving our farmers pats on their shoulders. GO GO SAGUNTO!!!
Ooops, growing these “veggies” kunak koma…
I will start planting soon, Nette. It’s spring here now, and OHanami might be around soon. Are the Sakura trees there in Durham blossoming already? Time to till the garden.
good for you guys seems winter left your places already for in here huh still sooo cold.
The world is tilting. Don’t you know that North Pole is moving towards where you are Evs? Here, our winter was quite hot, as the ice cream makers reported a record high sales in winter. Strange that our mid spring flowers are already in full bloom here. Global warming and alteration of climate by mankind… Couldn’t find Jerry’s link to his photobucket…kindly send me link Evs. How are you and Bhie there? Lately, I was surprised to learn about Sheryl, my cousin. See that darling of hers at Friendster album? Nakaala metten ti iyawid na, sika. Hihihi. Ale dakayo singles dita, agawaan yo!
“The Php2.5 Million cash loan with no interest and no collateral is payable within three years at Php417K per cropping season which is twice a month.?” HOPE SO THIS IS REALLY TRUE….
Gudluck 2 da farmers…. God bless us all!
Hmmn. Thanks for noticing that. What I know is that, these veggies can be harvested within one to 1.5 months from sowing period, so harvest season could be every other month. From the first day of harvest, you pick fruits almost every day for a month, at a diminishing rate/amount, peak at mid-month. Alright, maybe just typo error above, if not, kindly discuss with your farmers group again if that projection is realistic. If that 2.5 is payable within 3 yrs, they could pay about 135k pesos every 2 months, more or less. …then, that could be attainable.
Correction pls;cropping season is twice a year for the sweet cherry and plum tomatoes,.and every 3mos for the petite type of cucumber. Payment scheme is not really that tight as the gardeners group were given 6mos grace period. The MAYOR even promised the sagunto gardeners( SAGUNTO QUALITY CROPS GROWERS ASSOCIATION),that she will help in marketing the groups’ produce,Initially, the intended customer is SM chain of malls and supermarkets, but, the MAYOR,told the group that, whatever SM can’t accomodate, she will help sell in other malls in MM.Thes group will start with 1hectare garden, then gradually expand to 3hectares AFTER SHAKING OFF THOSE START-UP JITTERS.
Thank you initiator for your clarification. That is more like it. Just two cropping seasons a year expectation. You get to harvest more than that actually. Well…but I suggest you keep planting every 3 weeks to be able to meet the demand and supply at SM and MM. Once you start harvesting from your first set of seedlings, you should be growing another set of seedlings to keep the chain going. That’s what I do here for the cow peas or sitaw, all within 4 months. My cherry tomatoes and cucumber were just for my home needs so I never had a planting cycle, just a few seedlings good for the whole duration of spring and summer-6 months. What is nice with cucumber is that, you keep harvesting every other day for 3 months. This means, you should be planting in new plots every two months. You are going to plant Japanese variety veggies, but I understand your seed supplies come from Taiwan. I have just a 8×12 m garden, but I am challenging my brothers how much they could earn per this perimeter size. I have told them I earn about 25k pesos each month in just this small garden in summer. If anyone of them beat me, I will award the winner by giving them my own $Y yields, hehe. You are lucky Phil. has summer all year round, but it’s this market that is your problem there. Just plant the right crop and have good markets and you’ll hit it big. I was a bit lucky here because of the good market, but summer is too short. Thanks for your initiative…keep going! SaguntoStar supports your group’s drive to wipe out poverty in our communities with the help of our Mayor’s structured plans. Promote Environmental Sustainability! Mabuhay ang Agrikultura!
Nice Job apo initiator madanaganak gamin no diay ibagbaga yo dita ngato about the payment scheme it is impossible to harvest twice a month no agrugrugi da huh! if that is the case GOODAH!
For sure they can make it farmers benefited are all good and it is their field of interest Go for Organic mga Farmers!
To the Initiator, thanks for noticing the error in the article. It should be twice a year. THNAKS! TAHNKS! YAIIKS!
THANK YOU! Whew! finally
