“I want Barangay Sagunto to be first and I want it right away because the farmers there are already experts and ready!” … KSC

Qualified vegetable producers of Barangay Sagunto are the first recipients of a project assistance at an estimated cost of Php 2.5 Million from the municipality of Sison as per result of a joint meeting of the staffs of the Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO) under the direction of Ms. Belinda Villanueva, members of the Sanggunian Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Marinas, Mr. Inocencio G. Carganilla, Mr. Eleuterio Reyes, Engr. Paquito B. Balajadia, Punong Barangay Manuel L. Esteban, Sr. and Mayor Kimi.

The Mayor enjoined for the immediate construction of irrigation system, availability of tractors, procurement of seeds, financial assistance for the farmhands and the instant facilitation of the needed documents to be prepared by the MAO.

The venture opts to maximize the production of fruits and vegetables in the entire municipality that are also acceptable in posh markets. The trainings and seminars attended by the interested and selected farmers have exceedingly contributed a variety of technical advancements related to crop growing but their inability to fund the requirements to attain the expected outputs impedes the process. The Mayor saw the quandary so she designed a system that hopes to make Sison a major producer of high value fruits and vegetable products by granting subsidies and close monitoring of the farmers by the staffs of the Department of Agriculture until they attain the expertise that no longer require the supervision.

Barangay Sagunto was chosen to exclusively specialize in the production of cherry tomatoes, tomato plums, sweet peas and cucumber to avoid lavish production of same commodities that might generate a negative price command in the market.
