Sison is Waiting for You

Jeanette on Sep 19th 2008

Last year’s town fiesta was a memorable one, the first under Mayor Kimi’s administration. Since then, Sison has truly come into its season and is awaiting your return, you her children who are abroad. This year’s fiesta is going to be even better than last year. Hard to believe, I know. Already, Sison is gearing up starting with the search for the Sison Idol. This year will also herald the new town hall/plaza which has been under renovation for much of the year. The project experienced some delays due to the typhoons but they are now working around the clock to get the new plaza ready for the fiesta. “According to Mr. Eleuterio ‘Keong’ Reyes who is monitoring all ongoing Sison infrastructure projects, the town’s plaza will be segmented into two. On the southern part will stand an open theater and its northern portion will be converted into a park. ‘A lane will also be constructed around the plaza for pedestrians’ Mr. Keong added.”

Another grand project in the works is the installation of monopoles throughout Sison. Don’t worry about being unplugged and offline while you vacation in Sison any longer. The goal of these monopoles is to provide the entire municipality of Sison with free access to the internet! This will make Sison one of the first (if not the first) municipalities in the Philippines to be ‘wired’, thanks to the innovative and forward thinking Mayor Kimi Cojuangco.

Sison is in Season

UPDATED 9/15/08 - photos added, courtesy of A. Anudon & Sison slide
Mayor Kimi has certainly brought about the season for Sison. Even since taking office less than a year ago, she has initiated numerous improvements not just in the beautification of Sison but also improvements to the governance and infrastructure of our beloved town. Here are a few things going on in Sison, in case you haven’t had a chance to visit the Season for Sison website lately:

The new SISON MUNICIPAL LIBRARY is now complete, thanks to the team of our mayor Kimi and her sister, Cristy.

ARTACHO SCHOOL GETS NEW BALUSTRADE
The acting Vice Mayor, Hon. Eric Biason donated cement to build a balustrade in front of the newly constructed Mark O. Cojuangco Building at Artacho Elementary School. This is part of the effort to ready the Grade 5 room for an upcoming science competition this month.

KARYO FLIES TO THE LAND OF DOLLS
It is a practice of Mayor Kimi to bring one of her staff to accompany her on her jaunts to visit Saguntonians abroad. During her recent visit to California to attend the gathering of the Sisonian’s in San Diego, Pangasinan Provincial Tribal Federation Chieftain, Mr. Inocencio “Karyo” G. Carganilla, was the lucky one to travel with the mayor. It should be noted that these overseas jaunts to unite Sisonians all over the world are funded not by government funds but rather at Mayor Kimi’s personal expense.
