Vista Ortiz & Family

Jeanette on Jun 26th 2008

Another Saguntonian found our little abung on the web and contacted us. This is Vista Hope Esteban Ortiz and her family.

Ortiz
On the photo are:
Rachel (Jojo’s wife, Vista’s daughter-in-law), Jovi Faye (Vista’s daughter), Vista, Ian Japeth (her youngest), Jojo (eldest son), and Kathleen Joy (younger daughter).
This was taken at home during their New Year’s Celebration.

A message from Vista:

Hi there!
T’was a surprise to find out that Saguntonians have a website! I am very proud of you! Jeanette (Jmom) and Ophelia (Omom), right? You probably barely know me. I can remember you two as little girls visiting your grandma from Baguio with your mom. Our house was just adjacent from your grandma’s. My dad was the Barrio Captain and my mom who was and is “the” Saguntonian in the family, was a school teacher who touched a lot of lives in the community. In her behalf, I would like to greet “well wishes” to everybody here as well as the Sagunto folks.
Because of my heritage, “(Uncle Manuel keep on the good work!)” I love Sagunto. Sagunto that my dad and mom once cherished and is so alive in the memory of once a young girl, me.
Again, great work and kudos to all of you!

Manang Vista shared a bit of trivia that I didn’t know before. It was her mom who started the Rizal Day Celebrations in Sagunto!

She also said “If my memory serves me right, you were the first Queen and Elmer Esteban, my cousin was the first King. You both were so cute!”
[We are still cute manang ;) ]
Manang Vista is still beautiful as ever and we hope to hear from the other Ortiz sisters and other Saguntonians of old as well.

Old friends of Sagunto, send photos of your family, a quick update of where you are now and how you remember Sagunto, and we’ll post it here too. Just send your emails and attachments to: saguntophotos@gmail.com

Wow! Hello Manang! I’m so glad you found our little virtual “abong”…though I was still a little girl I do remember you and your sisters (especially the names Hope, Charity and Faith. I thought it was cool that your mom named you that way).
I remember when I used to go to your old house to practice our dance routine for Christmas to the tune of “Jingle Bell Rocks”.
You have a very lovely family! Thanks for sharing and contacting our site, manang. I hope you can join us more often.

    Hi Paz,
Wow! thanks for writing a comment here. Most missed. Yes, Ian is going to be a freshman in Highschool already. Jovi Faye is in L.A. pursuing her acting career and presently enrolled in acting over there. She had been in one episode in “Veronica Mars” TV Series here in US.
Kathleen Joy is going to college full time in San Diego and stays with Jojo after going around for singing concerts with popular PI artists like Sarah Geronimo and others. She had been touring around Calif and Alaska with them.
Jojo was a “Nuke” in the Navy. Got out and now a Engineering Supervisor with the General Dynamics in San Diego. Rachel, his wife is an RN like you.
I am a microbiologist here in the Bay area. I work with the Western Laboratory under The US Dept. of Agriculture. I do “Food Micro.”
I Haven’t seen you for a long time Paz. You even got married and all. Do you have plans to come here in the US? How is auntie and uncle? Please extend my hugs and kisses to all of them family. Hello there dear Xander,
Well, yes, you have to come here and visit. Let’s have a reunion. I remember you as a little boy and now you have little boys and a girl right?
I have a picture of us here with me. You were a little boy when mom brought you over to Dagupan. It was taken at the beach with Tettet and mom. I’ll have to scan this and send it to you through this site so people will see you as a kid and mom in her early forties. Maybe.
Regards to everybody! Love you all!

    Hi Vista

What a very pleasant surprise, Vista! It was sooo good to hear from you. Little was known of your whereabouts since you left Sagunto. I thought you are still living in Dagupan!
