Online newsletter for the citizens of Sagunto, Sison, Pangasinan, Philippines
The barangay’s own library is nearing completion thanks to the dedication of the SFAL (Sagunto Friendship Association London) group who are the sponsors of this project.
Here is a quick photo update of the progress:

In the second photo, Mr. Tony Brownlow points to the wall where the appreciation plaques will be hung. The first will contain the names of all SFAL officials and members and the second will be from the Barangay Council acknowledging this important contribution from SFAL.
SFAL President, Raul “Judee” Digay announced that the inauguration and opening of the library will in in January 2009 in conjunction with the grand homecoming planned for all balikbayans on December 29, 2008, in time for the Rizal Day Celebrations.

Mang Judee such a nice accomplishment on the Library good for you who planned on it and hoping that Children and youth of the Barangay will soon be bookworms and it is accessible for them if they needed some research or papers works they needed.
Believe talaga ako sa SFAL, pag na plano, tinatapos. Sige po, we’ll just share some books, and attend that grand opening!
I was kidding this guy next to me that if ever he donated some bits for the Sison Queen in 2007, and some portions would be spinkled on the coating of the walls, I will write his name on the ceiling part of the SaguntoStar picture…hahaha. Just kidding. Hey, I’m planning to have a mini-museum in taltalon, so I could allot a corner for an annex library too (Ang kulit ano?). After all, taltalon kids are lazy to walk to Abong. But that project SFAL is fantastic. It could probably rise to third… to fourth floor. When are you going to put up the elevator? Manny Jr., why not donate an elevator? I guess, Janet Oblero’s aircon has been installed?
Thank you all who have been making these plans come true.

Thank you, Mng. Judee, for the recent news and up-dates regarding the library and the SFAL activities. You guys and gals there have been very busy, indeed. It’s awesome how you guys can come together and finally get things off the ground.
Congratulations on all your achievements, Manong. The entire SFAL have really worked hard to make this all happen. So many activities for the holidays, Aye!! OK, get your wallets out and send a little something for the library. Sige, manong, just put me down for one year subscription of Banawag or whatever the oldies want to read

Hello Manong Judee, so agawid ka gayam nga agpayso. Kunak man no in postpone mon ti panagawid kas kinuna da.
Suggestion…adu met ket ti agited ti “not-so-new” issues ti Bannawag, Readers Digest and other magazines. Just assign some people to collect at the end of the week from some of the regular subscribers in town, their magazines and reading materials. It always takes them a few days to read their purchased reading materials, so a week after that, parting with their precious books/magazines wouldn’t be as hard anymore. I guess, even after several months and years of purchase, the materials would still be good for the library files. They’re always useful to students. For instance, I am now looking for back issues of the Reader’s Digest issued around the 1990′s ( for they contained studies on the connections of Nuclear energy to the increasing number of incurable cancer). Where can I find these but in the national and big libraries, articles documented through microfiche films, not seen at internet files.
Assign librarians and Library club officers who will oversee things when the library starts. Okay, how do you maintain them? Aha! Now you can ask for donors too for librarians’ allowances. Hehe, adu manen ti saok…As I planned, I also want to have a mini library in the “taltalon”. My school (Temple Univ.) has lots of books on sale.
Goodluck for the opening. I am still not sure of our travel plans. Airline fuel surcharges are still high though fuel prices are getting cheaper. Ciao!
Emily
Emily, thank you for your thoughts. Okay folks keep it coming so we can discuss all of them when we meet the Barangay Council on December. Wen na-discuss mi met idi meeting ti SFAL maipanggep ti Librarian nga mang-maintain ti Library tapnon saan nga mapukaw dagiti lib-libro nga mai-donate. However, I rather not discuss this matter in here because we would like to have an open meeting (discussion) with the Council first. But the fact of the matter is SFAL agreed to provide remuneration for the Librarian. Also the duties and responsibilities of the Librarian will be formulated at the meeting and must be approved by the Barangay Council. The council will be in no doubt be running the show not us. Before I forget, the inauguration ceremony will now be on January 6, 2009 (Tuesday) instead of January 1, 2009. Ngamin adu unay ti celebration ti December ket nabannog amin nga bumaryo isu nga na-postpone maysa pay ket adda dagiti members ti SFAL nga maladaw a sumangpet. Saan nga bale ta malpas ti Library tayo sakbay ti opening ceremony.
