Senator Legarda Guest of Honor for Sison Town Fiesta
Jeanette on Dec 3rd 2007
Senator Loren Legarda is the first female majority leader elected in the Philippine Senate. Senator Legarda is also the founder of Luntiang Pilipinas (Greening of the Philippines) Foundation. Besides the Luntiang Pilipinas, she is a strong advocate for other issues such as Law and Order, Rights of Women, Youth and Children, Education, Environment and Employment; and Nationalism. She has also been known as a staunch crusader for national unity and social justice in the Philippines.
She recently visited the Pangasinan region and two Sisonians were honored to meet with her. This is Kagawad Loejan Anudon’s account of that meeting.
“DINNER WITH SENATOR LOREN LEGARDA IN GREASY JEANS AND WORN RUBBER SHOES”
At around 5:30 in the afternoon, December 1, 2007, the Honorable Vice Mayor, Bensaulozacheus Marinas, dropped me a very urgent call. “CONFIRMED NA! DAANAN KITA NGAYON NA!” Sensing the urgency of the Honorable Vice Mayor’s call, I didn’t even have the time to ask what is confirmed. In greasy jeans and worn rubber shoes, I changed my sweat soaked shirt, jumped in the Vice Mayor’s car and sped off in haste. Along the way, I asked, what is confirmed and where are we going? He said, you and I will meet the Honorable Senator Loren Legarda. In this attire? I protested, and he said, “Hey! you look more a vice mayor than I!”. Seeing him in an even odder state of dress, I stopped grumbling.
