During their recent vacation to the Philippines, Mr. & Mrs. Ed Dela Cruz (advisers of the Sagunto Friendship Association of London), aside from their ardent support of the Sagunto SK Basketball Tournament, found time from their busy schedule to visit Sison and meet with the mayor and some of her staff. The photo above was taken during lunch with the mayor and her staff. On the photo are:

The Sagunto Association USA Meeting

OMom on Oct 24th 2007

Mrs. Irene Florendo hosted a dinner/meeting at her home in Loma Linda, California last Saturday, October 20th. The guests were able to view the video that was taken during Mayor Kimi Cojuangco’s visit to the US last month (and presented here). Most of the member’s questions, they say, were answered after watching the video and listening to the mayor explain her position and plans for our town. The members were also up-dated on the different projects that have been completed (i.e., the sanitation dump, arrival of the sanitation dumpsters, purchase of computers for the town library, etc.); projects that are currently under-way and/or are in the planning process for the town of Sison.

Mannix

We welcome the newest member of the great Esteban clan of Sagunto! Mannix is the grandson of our very own Barangay Captain Manuel Esteban Sr. His parents, Alexander and Michelle along with his manang Medes and manong Alexer welcomed him to this world on October 4th, 2007. Mannix, who is named after his Lolo Manuel or Manny for short came into this world weighting 7.3 pounds and 20.5 inches long. [I think we have a future basketball player here :)]

His dad, Xander, said that the baby was named Mannix because it means “next to Manny”. Anyone who has been around Manny senior, our beloved barangay captain, will know that when you’re next to Manny, you can’t go wrong.

“Your children are not your children. They are the sons and the daughters of life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you they belong not to you.”

State of Sison: Report from Juliet Marinas

Jeanette on Oct 22nd 2007

This update was received from Mrs. Juliet Marinas, Executive Asssistant to Mayor Kimi Cojuangco.

I am so happy to be of assistance in disseminating information regarding the activities and accomplishments of our present mayor. My husband [Vice Mayor Ben Marinas] and I are so glad to announce that our municipal offices have been re-organized and re-arranged in a way that is more convenient to the public’s interest; it has been newly painted it is now brighter and wider to accommodate our clients.

Our Municipal Library is now fully air-conditioned and it has six (6) new computers with internet access for the usage of our municipal students FREE of charge. And we will soon receive six (6) sets of 24″x 52″ with five (5) layers of steel bookshelves for our books in the library and again these are compliments of our Mayor.

Our DSWD [Department of Social Welfare and Development] is now being funded by our Congressman from the (PDAF) Priority Development Assistance Fund, wherein our Indigents can avail of their immediate needs like Medical, Financial and burial needs. Based on my knowledge, with the regular cooperation with the company doctor of (NCC) Northern Cement Corporation and at the same time the medical doctor who is in-charge of the Congressman’s PDAF in the person of Dr. Francisco Bracewell, our Vice Mayor has been given the authority to approve and recommend such assistance to our indigents.

The DSWD funding Mdm. Marinas mentioned above is part of the P30 million that Congressman Mark Cojuangco allocated for the municipality of Sison from the Congressional Development Fund (CDF) mentioned on the post regarding the new dump trucks.
